On November 4th & 5th of 2023, Rick Gill and Sue Towne organized a field training opportunity for our Club members at Percy Priest Field Trial Grounds in LaVergne, TN. Gary Sadler, retired AKC Field Rep, presented AKC videos on both Hunt Tests and Field Trials and reviewed the expectations of both the dog and handler in these venues. This presentation was informative and well received by our Club members. Following the presentation and discussion, demonstrations of some of the handling skills and dog skills were demonstrated out in the field for all to view. The rest of the day and the following day, with the assistance of field-experienced members, all those present had the opportunity to expose their dogs to birds and the beginning of field work. All in all, it was a fun and informative introduction to what our V's love - birds!

The Volunteer Vizsla Club of TN will be mentored by the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Middle TN to hold our first Hunt Tests on November 2nd & 3rd, 2024 at Percy Priest Field Trial Grounds (pending AKC approval). This will be what is called double Hunt Tests, as each Club will hold a Hunt Test on each of the days, allowing participants and their dogs to potentially earn 4 qualifying scores, which would complete their title! So, put these dates on your calendar and plan to come out and participate with your dog(s) (if ready) and lend a helping hand - all help is welcome!
